TROY, Ala. (WTVY) - While plenty of fun activities and events are planned for the Troy Trojans’ upcoming Saturday non-conference clash with with the Rattlers of Florida A&M, one key piece of the experience when usually matching up with the visiting HBCU will not be part of the festivities at The Vet.

Troy Associate Athletic Director Adam Prendergast confirmed that the famous ‘Marching 100′ Rattlers band will not be making an appearance for the September 21 contest. No exact reason was provided as to why the Florida A&M band would not be traveling with the team this weekend.

While the chance to experience the Marching 100 is off the table for Trojans fans this Saturday, that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to look forward to alongside the clash on the gridiron as Troy looks for its first win of the 2024 season.

The Trojans will be welcoming back the 1984 NCAA Division II National Championship football team for a reunion and celebration. As part of the celebration, Troy will wear special throwback helmets similar to what was worn during that 1984 season by the 12-1 Trojans, and fans will receive a complimentary poster celebrating the 40th anniversary of the team’s crowning moment. The first 2,000 Troy students will also receive a free retro Troy State t-shirt honoring the team.

Additionally, Troy’s annual High School Band Day is set for Saturday, with high school band students being given the opportunity to experience gameday alongside Troy’s ‘Sound of the South.’ Those who register for the festivities will get the chance to participate in pregame practice with the Trojans band on the football practice field, including instruction from the Sound of the South staff, and they will also join the Sound of the South on the field at halftime for a stirring halftime performance. High School Bands can register for the event by visiting TroyTrojans.com/BandDay, and family and friends of participants can purchase a special ticket package at TroyTrojans.com/Promo using the code BANDDAY until Friday, September 20.

Parent & Family Weekend ticket deals are also available this weekend for parents and families of Troy students by visiting TroyTrojans.com/Promo and using the code FAMILY for discounted tickets, reserved section options and an included Troy Hat, with vouchers available to pick up on gameday at Gate 1 of the stadium beginning at 1:30 p.m. which will be turned in at the Barnes & Noble Stadium Store by Gate 8.

The Horn Beverage Tailgate Concert Series will also take place at the Tailgate Terrace on Saturday, with a free concert from Johnny Barron and The Waterfall Band from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
